LOVE & COMMUNITIES

Smiles Through Art was pleased to create and implement an art program for the Community of the Mazahuas in San Felipe del Progreso, Mexico with the Foundation Vamos a Dar. 

The Mazahuas Community is an indigenous group,(“Jñatjo - venado: people of the deer”)  is the largest indigenous group from the State of Mexico, they live in 13 municipalities of the northeast region including San Felipe del Progreso, the principal activities are agriculture, arts and crafts and commerce. 
Culturally they preserve embroidery textiles, use large skirts and speak the Mazahua language. 
Historically they are descendants of the chichimecas a group that lived in the region since the XVI Century. 

Smiles Through Art create the art Program “LOVE” for Mazahuas children designing an art collage made of paper and diverse heart shapes cut outs.
In celebration of the Day of Love and Friendship.
It remind us also the importance of rebuilding our world with positive acts of kindness.

Arts not only helps to express feelings but also are necessary for improving well-being and creating positive minds.
